Give Back in Style this Holiday Season!

Project Angel Food is an organization based here in Los Angeles. The organization’s mission is “to nourish the body and spirit of men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Volunteers and staff cook and deliver free and nutritious meals prepared with love throughout Los Angeles County, acting out of a sense of urgency because hunger and illness do not wait,” as explained on the website of Project Angel Food.

Professional chefs and volunteer assistants prepare the meals they deliver, and they only use the freshest ingredients. Project Angel Food even provides dietitians to give clients individual nutritional counseling free of charge!

Each year in December, Project Angel Food has its annual fundraiser, Divine Design. This year, the fundraiser took place this past weekend on December 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. Every year countless designers donate clothing, furniture, and makeup to be sold at Divine Design. The proceeds go to the organization, which then uses the money to buy more ingredients and make more meals for those in need!

Some of the amazing brands sold at this retail event are Marc by Marc Jacobs, Guess, True Religion, Nanette Lepore, Steve Madden, and many more! Perusing the racks upon racks of clothes and trying on all the shoes are a fashion lover’s delight. You can splurge on a cute jacket without feeling guilty because the money is going to a good cause.

Another equally fun way to get involved is to volunteer at Divine Design. Whether organizing tables of scarves or manning the coat check, it is a great event to volunteer for, especially if you love fashion. You might even spot a celebrity- or two!

Though this year’s Divine Design has come and gone, fear not (there’s always next year)! Also, there are plenty of other ways to give back in the Christmas spirit. Try donating some of your old clothes to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Maybe get together with some friends with blanket making kits and donate them to a homeless shelter. Or even head to angelfood.org to find out about volunteer opportunities this holiday season!
