She’s “a hoot!” Ms. Brasda’s favorite restaurant is her mom’s kitchen, the official home of delicious homemade tuna noodle casserole. Hate when people chew gum with their mouth open? So does she. With Ms. Brasda, you could rant about open-mouth chewers for ages. Struggle with 1960s American History? This teacher will rave about the colorful and eventful turn of the century period until you love it as well; in her own words, that period was when America became modern and women FINALLY started being a part of society (girl power!). And though she is a history teacher, she, in fact, used to love math and was good at it, until she got into calculus in which she failed with flying colors! However, always a good sport, she’s a firm believer that without failing, she never would’ve found her passion for history. So hit up Ms. Brasda, the color-green-loving, outdoorsy, teacher-next-door the next time you see her because “everyone needs a friend from Wisconsin!”

Mr. Baker says Ms. Brasda “is a yes person; she says yes to so many things and she really wants to be a part of the school community.” He goes on to praise her participation and willingness to moderate mock trial, which she is already “making very strong.” In his opinion, as a teacher, “she is super engaging in her class and puts a lot of effort in planning her lessons.” In fact, she has put in “the most effort [he’s] seen a new teacher do in a really long time.”

Think Ms. Brasda isn’t the one for you? Well if you still have a special place in your heart for ice cream but think a gal who likes the colors blue and purple and has a non-blind dog named kitty is more your style, this next person will absolutely KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!

Meet BEATRIZ PARREIRA, also known as Bea.

A stylish, hip, yet old school soul, Beatriz loves classic movies such as Clueless and Back to the Future and current songs such as “Aaron Burr, Sir” from the hit Broadway musical Hamilton. If you’re craving some pasta or anything Italian, Beatriz is the person to talk to; just don’t chew with your mouth open & take her food without asking because… you will pay for it. This freshman is not only a great listener (she hates when people talk over her when she tells a story), but she speaks two languages: English and Portuguese; if you’re ever in need of help with Spanish homework, she’s the gal to go to! Want to be a model? Bea aspires to go into both the fashion and photography business, so collaborating would be in your best interest. If you see Bea in the hall, don’t be afraid to say “hello!” and chat about pop music and classic rock with her, but be careful not to come out of nowhere because you might scare her, and horror movies are not her cup of tea.

Senior and Marymount Players veteran, Sarah Gill (‘17) says that Beatriz is “fun, energetic and always ready to work,” especially noting how she’s an “invaluable member of the Marymount Players.”

Similarly, fellow classmate, Serena Perl (’20) gushes about Beatriz’s enthusiasm, kindness, and dedication. She “takes pride in everything she does and puts 100% effort into anything she is passionate about.”
