Los Angeles Destinations to Get Into the Christmas Spirit

The Grove

Some of you may solely know The Grove as a great shopping mall; however, this area is also one of the most decorated areas for Christmas in Los Angeles. If in the mood to get a Christmas photo with Santa, eat a delicious Sprinkles cupcake, drink hot chocolate from Haagen Dazs, and be dressed up in the Christmas spirit, this is the place for you. On top of this, it is hard to miss the gigantic tree full of colorful ornaments and lights. After a day of shopping, you can relax by the dancing fountain, be sprinkled with snow, and listen to the classic Christmas tunes. Closer to Christmas time, you can attend The Groves’ major Christmas event with famous singers like Meghan Trainor and watch the tree lighting.

Beverly Hills (Rodeo Drive)

Immediately as we drove down the streets of Beverly Hills, lights were everywhere. Although the actual Rodeo Drive street is full of Christmas spirit, we recommend taking a stroll down the shorter walkway promenade. On that walkway, there are lots of Christmas trees and fun decorations, and it is a great place to do some Christmas shopping. Additionally, when turning left off of Rodeo Drive, there is the famous Santa and his reindeer display hanging above the street.

Candy Cane Lane

You may think your neighbors lights are impressive, but if you want to see who really goes all out for Christmas, visit Candy Cane Lane in Woodland Hills! For a closer location, you can go to El Segundo’s smaller Candy Cane Lane; however, the real deal is located near Tarzana. Both these streets are lined with impressive decorated houses complete with giant blow-up snow globes, tons of flashing lights, and even a moving train. So if you have the time, it’s worth the visit.

Christmas Tree Lots

Going to a Christmas tree lot provides the amazing feeling of being surrounded by Christmas trees and smelling their evergreen and forest scent. We went to two different Christmas tree lots: Delancey Trees and Home Depot. Delancey Trees provides not only a place to purchase trees, but also an opportunity to give back. With every purchase of a Christmas tree, one gives to the charity Delancey Street, which is a residential, self-help organization for former substance abusers, ex-convicts, homeless and others in need. Home Depot provides a cheaper and larger selection of trees. Packed with many people in the Christmas spirit, Home Depot provides a reliable space in which you can get not only a tree but lights, ornaments, and decorations.

Chill at the Queen Mary

Although we didn’t have time to go to this location because it is in Long Beach, we have been dying to visit Chill at the Queen Mary. This location is filled with fun Christmas activities, including ice skating and ice tubing. Additionally, basically everything is made of ice, so there are tons of igloos to explore, ice sculptures to climb, and even ice slides to slide down. This fun location is open until January 8th, so we recommend you make a day trip out of it and enjoy the Christmas fun at the Queen Mary.
