This summer expect to see some new trends and the return of popular trends from a couple of years ago.

Generally, the looks on the catwalks this year tended to lean towards a more boxy, structured look for jackets, shirts and dresses. Matching pant and short suits are really in this summer, and an appropriate pair could be the perfect thing to wear to a summer job or internship while upping your fashion game at the same time.

Jackets this season tend to either be well fitted or loose, and styles such as the moto jacket (aka, jacket without a collar) are expected to be extremely popular this summer.

The fashionable skirt lengths of the season are mini lengths and midi lengths (sorry maxi skirt). Statement pieces are becoming increasingly popular, with people wearing skirts with funky designs or fancy embellishments on them as a way to express themselves through fashion.

Heeled shoes are ever popular, however I would recommend something more comfortable such as thick-soled converse type shoe (props to Grace Um for rocking these in black).

In terms of color, expect to see a whole lot of pastels this season. Unique and fun designs are also very in, so feel free to find a pattern that you love and rock it all summer long. Fun plays on stripes are expected to be popular as well. In addition, metallic embellishments for skirts and other pieces will also increase in popularity this summer.
