This year’s Grammy’s consisted of magnificent performances from artists such as Ariana Grande, Hozier, Rihanna, Annie Lennox and more.  Alongside these performances were unique, lovely dresses that made grand statements for each artist.  Many new artists were nominated this year including: Sam Smith, Hozier, Haim, Meghan Trainor, and Iggy Azalea.  Sam Smith had a great night overall; he took home awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album.  His emotionally vulnerable and his heart wrenching songs proved their worth showing that Sam Smith is here to stay.  The group, Clean Bandit took home the award for Best Dance Recording for their hit song, “Rather Be”.  This win was expected due to their constant play on radio and stint on the top charts.

The biggest surprise was the winner of Album of Year: Beck for “Morning Phase”.  You may know his song “Blue Moon” or his 1990’s hit “Loser”.  Another highlight of the night was a performance by Rihanna and Kanye West alongside Paul McCartney for their new single: “Four Five Seconds.” This was an interesting mix of artists that pleased the crowd.  Taylor Swift danced alongside her friends in the girl  band, Haim, but sadly Swift did not perform due to her busy schedule and preparing for the 1989 tour!  The event was a night to remember with many new artists and astonishing performances.
