The Best Thanksgiving Dish

When one thinks of Thanksgiving, the food is what first comes to mind—at least for me. Who doesn’t love the succulent turkey, delicious cranberries, and hearty gravy? But above all, we wait for the desserts: pumpkin bread, pecan pie, apple crisp, and more.

We workout—or plan on working out —during the Thanksgiving season so that we can pig out on amazing food and not feel too bad about it. Even the smells associated with Thanksgiving, cinnamon, and nutmeg, have their place in the seasonally spiced dessert. How can you not love the plethora of sweet, savory, and tart dishes that make your mouth water?

There are people who disagree, who say that there are, in fact, better foods at a Thanksgiving meal than dessert. Maybe they have been brainwashed or hate the smiles of little children. I don’t know. To those people, I say you need to try my mom’s banana bread and tell me you don’t fall in love.

And let’s be real, no one eats his or her Thanksgiving “dinner” at dinnertime. For some odd reason, we end up eating around 3 p.m. So, by the time you start eating dessert, with time in-between to digest, it’s actually dinnertime. And who didn’t have a childhood dream about eating dessert for dinner, or any meal for that matter? We all did, especially after watching Will Farrell in Elf, although he took it a little too far. How could any Thanksgiving dinner be complete without an amazing dessert?
