With spring break nearly three weeks away, many Sailors have already started making exciting plans for this two-week vacation. Whether it’s planning a trip or simply relaxing at home with family and friends, everyone is looking forward to a break from their extremely busy lives.

This year, Marymount is offering a 9-day trip to Japan led by Ms. Dickey. The trip includes visiting Tsukiji, the largest fish market in the world, a ride on the high-speed bullet train that will take the girls to the base of Mt. Fuji, and paying a visit to Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo Hall. The attendees will not only be able to experience the beautiful culture of Japan, but will also witness the blooming of the cherry blossoms, a subject covered in the Japan Unit of the freshman level history class, Early Global Studies.

“I’ve always wanted to visit Japan, especially Tokyo, so when Marymount offered me the opportunity to visit this place with such a knowledgable teacher, I couldn’t miss out on it. I’m going with Isabelle H., so it will be a good time,” Allyn Belusko ’16 shares.

While some girls immerse themselves in Japanese culture, others will be venturing with their families to places of diverse temperatures – from hot and sunny to cold and snowy. Since spring break begins in the middle of March, you can’t go wrong with an exotic visit to another country or simply visiting another state.

“I’m going to go see my sister at her college in Pennsylvania, and since the college I’ll be attending is nearby, we might drive by it as well. I have family up there, so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone,” Julia Burgess ’16 states.

Although everyone loves to see their friends every day at school, I think we can all agree that Spring Break is well deserved by all. So, everyone enjoy the time off and we’ll see you bright and early on April 11th in your dress uniforms. With that, readers, you are dismissed!
