Give the Gift of Sugary Sweetness this Christmas

Enjoy this creative twist on the Oreo cookie this Christmas. Directions and photos courtesy of: Photos and directions courtesy of: http://luluthebaker.blogspot.com/2011/12/on-6th-day-of-christmas-peppermint-oreo.html

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of double-stuffed Oreos (for the thickness)
  • 2 bags white candy melts
  • Paper lollipop sticks
  • 4 crushed up candy canes

Steps:

  1. Get out 2-3 cookie sheets and line them with waxed paper. Carefully twist the top of the Oreos leaving two halves of the Oreo. Put some of the cookie pieces on the sheets (not too close together).

  2. Take a skewer and use the end of it to dig out a tad of the cream filling inside of the Oreo. Start at the outside of it and gently push inward towards the middle leaving a crevice.

  3. Melt your candy melts in a bowl according to box directions.

  4. Put the end of a lollipop stick into the melt and stick it into your Oreo channel gently (GENTLY or else it will break!)

  5. Take your Oreo top and take a spoon and dab a little bit of the melt onto the inside of the Oreo top and then gently press the Oreo top against the other half.

  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have finished all of your Oreos and wait till they are set

  7. Take one of your Oreo pops and dip it carefully into the melt and completely dunk it so it is completely covered in your melt! Once it is covered, gently pull it out and hold it parallel to the floor and wait for all the excess to drip off. (be careful not to make a mess!)

  8. Set the Oreo onto the sheet and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.

  9. When you’re finished, wrap them however you please! (Get creative!)

Enjoy! Have a great winter holiday and enjoy creative (and delicious) DIY crafts like this one!
