Fall Sports Overview

The Sailors are back this fall competing in 4 different sports. The Sailors trained consistently these past few months, and constantly putting their best effort into each game! 

Volleyball

The Marymount Varsity Volleyball team goes undefeated this season! In league games the Sailors have defeated Harvard Westlake, Marlborough, and Notre Dame Academy. The Sailors traveled to Las Vegas to participate in the Durango Tournament, and played impressively by holding their opponents under 20 points in each game. In the intense final match up, the Sailors beat the Mater Dei Monarchs, taking home the title of tournament champions. At the tournament Elia Rubin ’22 was named tournament MVP and made the all-tournament team. Kelly Belardi ’22, Kerry Keefe ’22, and Torrey Stafford ’23 were also named part of the all-tournament team. The Sailors also traveled to Pheonix, Arizona for the NIKE Tournament of Champions. Remaining undefeated, the sailors beat Horizon in the finals, becoming the champions of the Platinum Division!!!

Cross Country

The cross country team has started off strong this season! They train daily to build their stamina for their 3 mile races. Their determination and strength was shown when they placed 2nd at the Brentwood Invitational! Go Sailors! Coach Lasan constantly supports the team and provides them with some of his amazing bread! Isabella Macias ’23 was recognized as athlete of the week for being an instrumental and dedicated teammate who helps lead freshmen during training. Fiona Fisher ’22 was also named athlete of the week for her positive attitude and strong work ethic. She came in third place at Marymount’s first league meet at Pierce college, and always strives to improve her time. Congratulations Isabella and Fiona!

Tennis

Varsity and Junior Varsity tennis have been performing strongly in the courts! Varsity tennis had a few tough matches in the beginning of the season, but clinched a win over Immaculate Hearth High School. Congratulations to Varsity athlete Ruby Elliot ’24 for being athlete of the week! Ruby demonstrates great sportsmanship and endurance on the court. This season Junior Varsity took the win against Geffen, Santa Monica High School, and Immaculate Heart High School. Coach Kaveh recognizes Avamehr Vaghaiwalla ’23 for her dedication and progress made this season. She was able to easily defeat her opponent at Marlborough in her first singles match! We can’t wait to see how the Sailors perform for the rest of the season!

Golf

Varsity golf had an amazing start to the season in their first match against Mayfield. Emily Fox ’22 shot a 44 and had the best overall round in the match! Each group in the match won their rounds, and the Sailors brought home the win! The Sailors faced some difficult matchups against Marlborough and Chaminade, but their persistent efforts helped them win against Windward. Varsity athlete Coco Fourticq ’23 was named athlete of the week. Coco is an a very reliable and dedicated teammate, for she consistently scores well in all her matches. Let’s go golf!

We are so proud of all the hard work the Sailors have put into this season so far! Go Sailors!
