Ok, I get it. You are probably wondering what in the world do Tik Tok and the Mandela Effect have to do with each other? Well, one fine winter evening in January, I was scrolling through Tik Tok and came across this wild video about Mandela Effects* that “all Gen-Zers know”– the creator’s words, not mine. As a Gen-Zer, I had to know what the information in this video entailed, but after watching it, I realized that I was not aware of these! So, I am here to enlighten you with some of the content I watched in his video series, but first, a quick explanation of the Mandella Effect: it is a phenomenon where a large sum of individuals claim something existed, but in reality, it never did.

The first effect he shared was that many iPhone users recall a robber emoji that had a black beanie, a black eye mask, a black and white striped shirt, and a money bag thrown over his left shoulder. However, this emoji never even existed– what?! I honestly recall using this emoji, but apparently not. I was in the first stage of denial when seeing this that I had to conduct my own research, but sadly, the conclusions I feared were concluded. Leaving myself in agony, the internet debunked my hopes and it never existed.

Everyone knows the cartoon, Curious George, right? Evidently, he never had a tail. If you asked me to bet $100 on whether or not he had a tail, you would be $100 richer. This one slightly angered me because my inner 8-year-old Curious George obsession is contemplating the entirety of life.

The last one, and debatably my favorite effect he shared, is that there was never a Disney intro where Tinker Bell dotted the i with her wand. I feel like my life is a lie and I am dramatically having a midlife crisis– at 16! All of those fun Friday nights a decade ago, watching Disney movies, is a complete lie! I absolutely cannot believe that I always thought these three Mandela Effects were actually real, and I am glad to share my new wisdom with you!
