Halloween will come around soon, and realizing the need to stock up on decorations and candy, you will most likely take a trip to the store. What if this year, you didn’t have to visit the store? What if, instead, you used your creative powers and made use of what you have? First, you would save money. Second, you would produce less waste. Yes, it seems ridiculous. Who wants to make Halloween decorations from stuff in their recycling-bin? But, you’d be surprised – it’s fun!

Have a pair of disheveled tights from past dress-uniform days up your sleeve? You can use those to create the perfect spider web! Or, have you gotten a pair of sweet kicks recently? You can use your spare shoe-box to craft some pretty spooky tombstones. If you feel like you are low on creative energy, but still want to try to be green, simply use decorations from previous years. If you happen to be carving pumpkins this year, try to use all parts of the pumpkin! You could make pumpkin pie or cook up some of the pumpkin seeds for a tasty treat.

On Halloween, there is usually a “best-costume contest” at school. This year, just skip-out on hours contemplating what to buy at the costume store! Make your own. Looking for inspiration? Check Pinterest to see some creative costume ideas. For a little exercise on Halloween night, try to walk everywhere to save gas and work off some of that candy.
