How to Balance Your School Life with Your Social Life

The demanding curriculum at Marymount can threaten to take over your weekends. However, you do not need to overwork yourself and give up your social life. Having a social weekend while working hard on your academics may be challenging but it’s not impossible.

One strategy that can benefit you significantly is using planners. At large stores like Target and Staples, and at stationers like Flax Pen to Paper nearby in Westwood Village, you can find a variety of planners that are cute and useful. If you prefer to keep your planner on your phone or laptop, there are many apps such as myHomework. By planning a schedule that works for you and then writing it down, you will feel less overwhelmed. Create your own plan for when to study for your tests and quizzes and when to participate in leisure activities like playing sports or hanging out with your friends.

Try to set aside enough time for homework so that you will not have to cram in work the night before it’s due. Filling out the planner may seem like an extra, tedious task, but utilizing a planner can make the process of managing your workload infinitely easier. Save time for the fun things you would rather do!

Although social life is important, succeeding in your education will have lasting benefits. Realize that you will not be able to attend every social event, but you can schedule your life to fit in the most important ones. If you really want to go to something, of course you should not limit and chain yourself to your school work. But if an event does not seem worthwhile, then stay home. Balancing your social life and your school life will seem simple after practicing and using these strategies.
