Starting a new school year tends to come with a rollercoaster of emotions. It is during this time of the year when you can feel motivation, excitement, and dread all at once, and for most people it may take a while to adjust to all aspects of the school year.

Time management is arguably one of the biggest lessons people learn in high school. If you manage your time efficiently, you will not only have a balanced lifestyle, but also a stress-free mindset. Don’t wait to start homework the morning of, and definitely don’t wait to study for a test the night before. The more you put off your work, the more it will pile up, causing stress.

Communicating with your teachers is also important when starting the school year. You have probably heard the phrase “communication is key” before. This is definitely something to live by in high school. If you have any questions at all, remember to always talk to your teachers whether it be through email or in person. They are there to help you, and communicating with them will help to clarify topics, guaranteeing you a more successful experience in the class.

Reflection is beneficial when trying to make school a learning experience. Through reflection, you better understand the things you need to improve on and the positives of your lifestyle and habits. If you are truly trying to get back into the school mindset it is important to make time for yourself so that you can stay efficient and stress-free in all the work you have to manage.

The back to school season can definitely attract a lot of stress; however, you can always make it better through managing your time, communicating with the people around you, and reflecting on your progress. Adjusting to the new school year is harder for some people than others, but always remember to keep a balanced lifestyle and a positive outlook.
