A Day in the Life of Ms. Landry

Ms. Landry’s alarm rings at 5:15 signaling that it is time to get up and attack the day. She heads to a boot camp workout for an hour because as a leader, she believes that having a strong mind is just as important as having a strong body. She then comes home and feeds her cat, Mr. Clouseau, gets ready, and comes to school. Throughout the day she has meetings, phone calls, writes thank-you notes to donors, and speaks to the Marymount Community at school assemblies. At exactly 3 p.m. she hula hoops in order to stay active, moving, and strong. Finally, if there is a game for a Marymount sports team, she tries to attend it.

Ms. Landry has taught at the university level and has specifically worked at Marymount for 10 and a half years. She has seen much change during her time here including computers being instituted into everyday life, a block schedule being created, a stronger curriculum, the creation of the Set SAILL internship program, along with the everyday upkeep of Marymount.

She has always known since she was younger that working with teenagers is her passion and that is why she has continued to work for universities like Harvard and high schools like Marymount. When asked about her favorite Marymount memory, she recounted her first day at Marymount when she received a sailor hat just like the students receive during their Freshman Year.

Personally, outside of school, she loves movement. She wishes to cultivate silence in her life, which is also the focus of her book that will be coming out soon–keep a lookout for it! She describes herself as a people person and is going to visit her family during the Christmas break and stay home during Thanksgiving. Getting to interview Ms. Landry gave me an inside look at a life that not many people know about.
