Many enjoyed the weeks leading up the Olympics, and everyone seemed to have a favorite athlete for whom they were especially cheering. Here are some of the favorites from the Sochi Olympics.

During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, all eyes were watching the mesmerizing performances by South Korean figure skater Yuna Kim, who was shooting for a second straight Olympic gold medal after winning the gold medal in Vancouver, as well as the World Figure Skating Championships in 2013.

Despite Korea’s star performer, America prided themselves on the extremely popular and talented snowboarder Shaun White, a two-time gold medalist and American action sports icon. However, it was difficult for some to recognize him without his renowned shoulder-length hair!

Finally, two of America’s all-time favorite athletes are Meryl Davis and Charlie White, two amazing figure skaters that have been practicing together since 1997. Their true bond, hard work, and determination paid off: They are the 2014 Gold medalists, 2010 Olympic Silver medalists, and 2011 & 2013 World Champions. These two great skaters were the first American ice dance team to win an Olympic gold medal.

Congratulations to all of the American athletes, whether or not they achieved a shiny medal, even qualifying for the Olympics is an amazing feat in and of itself.
