A Marymount Winter Bucket List

A+Marymount+Winter+Bucket+List

Winter break is coming up fast, and with it, the problem everyone always faces: WHAT TO DO! This is exactly why “The Anchor” made you the perfect Winter Bucket List, complete with everything from taking selfies with Santa to curling up and watching a movie in front of a fire. The next few weeks will fly by and you are going to want to make the most of them.

  1. What sounds better than ice skating with friends? Ice skating with friends at NIGHT! Santa Monica ‘Ice’ is the perfect place to spend time with your friends and family. The skating is fun, the lights are amazing and the holiday spirit is EVERYWHERE!

  2. After an hour or so of skating, what better way to spend a Friday night than a movie marathon? Better yet, a Christmas movie marathon! What could be better than Buddy the Elf, The Grinch and Santa Claus all sharing the screen?

  3. Now, as we all know, Los Angeles is not the primary place to find snow, which is why you and your family (or you and your friends) should dedicate one day to driving to an area with some nice mountains and tons of that falling white wonder (recommendation: Big Bear Mountain or even closer, Los Pinos).

  4. What better way to bring the holiday season home than to make your home smell like it? Gingerbread men, pumpkin pies, Santa sugar cookies, Yule Logs, and so many more are some of the best ways to bring in that holiday spirit and put a smile on people’s faces.

  5. What’s a fun and simple way to enjoy the holiday season with your friends? Secret Santa gift exchanges of course! Keep the gifts within a $20 budget and make sure to include as many people as you can. Draw names from a hat and let the fun begin.

  6.  After giving some gifts and having people guess them, go see the big man himself! Visit Santa at a mall! Take a picture on his lap, or a selfie, and, for no particular reason, and tell him, in detail, what you want for Christmas.

  7. Next you and your friends should make and decorate a gingerbread house, complete with a Hershey’s bar roof and gumdrop stepping stones.

  8. Who doesn’t love getting presents during the holidays? What about giving them? Join an organization that gives presents to kids who can’t afford them, even if you’re just buying a little girl a Scrabble board, you’re still doing something good.

  9. As we all know, the best thing to do on a cold night is to make a pillow fort. Use rubber bands or clothes pins to drape blankets across the room and line the floor with fifty pillows, then cuddle up in some blankets and watch a movie or read a good book, all with a nice cup of hot cocoa,

    of course.

  10. What better way to get into the sprit of the holidays than to get some ugly Christmas sweaters? Whether at Urban Outfitters or a local thrift shop, ugly sweaters are a great way to spread Christmas cheer, and share some laughs.

  11. What is your favorite part of the holidays? The food, the presents the overall feeling? What about the decorations? A wreath on the door or lights lining the porch, a tree in the window covered in lights and ornaments or Santas all around the house. Why not all of it?photo (2)

  12. Of course before you can decorate a tree you’re going to need to buy one, and where else than a classic Christmas tree lot, complete with that pine needle smell and tons of trees to choose from.

  13. The most important thing you should do this holiday season is enjoy time with your family and friends, and, as we all know, eat LOTS of good food.

  Happy Holidays everyone!
