How to bring Christmas spirit to school and classroom

Many people throughout the years

Have pondered long and hard

Of how to spread great Christmas cheer

Without a credit card

But now we need to find out

How to stop this rhyme

And how to celebrate with your friends

In school at Christmastime!

“Elf” once said, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” Here are eight ways in which you can take his advice and spread the Christmas cheer with your friends and teachers!

  1. Carol!

Did you know it’s a proven fact that singing in front of a crowd builds confidence and has an effect on our bodies to make us happier? Caroling is a great way to get into the holiday season.

  1. Wear festive outfits!

As unfortunate as having to wear the uniform is this time of year, there are ways in which we can spice it up for the season! Winter scarves, Christmas earrings and jewelry, and Santa hats are great! Katja McKiernan, senior, adds, “I love my festive, light-up, antler headband!”

  1. Decorate your classrooms!

Encourage your teachers to decorate their classrooms with lights, mini Christmas trees, and ornaments! Use Mr. Klein’s room as a prime example. Megan Gard, junior, says, “I love when I walk into a classroom and it’s decorated for Christmas. It’s my favorite!”

  1. Consume Christmas foods!

Drink hot chocolate with marshmallows or enjoy other seasonal snacks like candy canes! Paula Sison, junior, takes pride in her Christmas spirit, explaining, “Every morning when it comes close to Christmas I make hot chocolate in the café. And as I make it, I sing Jingle Bells loud and clear for all to hear to spread Christmas cheer.”

  1. Participate in Secret Santa!

Participate in or make your own Secret Santa celebration at school or with your friends.

  1. Make a Christmas List!

Write down what you’ve wished for the entire year. Mikaela Minor, junior, says,

“If you see my list from afar, it shines bright!”

  1. Have a Christmas Countdown!

Nothing says “I love Christmas!” more than counting down until December 25th!

  1. Give!

Give gifts to your friends, family, and those in need, so that everyone enjoys a merry Christmas.
