Who’s ready for Thanksgiving? I know I am! Here a few fitness tips to stay in shape after eating that fantastic meal with your family ….

1. It is very important to have a daily fitness routine. Even if you do not have enough time during the day, 30 minutes of fitness in the morning can make a difference!

Here is my personal morning fitness routine:

  • 50 Side planks (each side)
  • 100 scissor kicks
  • 100 sit-ups
  • 50 toe touch crunches
  • 100 crunches
  • 2 min plank (break in between each minute)
  • 50 front leg raises
  • 10:00 min jumping jacks

If you do this every morning, you will not only feel great and energized for the day, but you will also start to notice the difference in the tone of your body. If you are new to doing a morning routine, set a goal that you would like to reach during the days over break and progressively increase each set, and soon enough you will be a pro!

2. If you’re an adventurer and love to hike here are a couple of great places to go hiking over Thanksgiving break:

-Baldwin Scenic Overlook

This location has a complete 360 view from Marina Del Rey all the way to Downtown Los Angeles! There are two ways you get up this hill. You could take the stairs, or you can run up a path with a great view. Either way, your calves will get a great work out! This is a great place to go with friends if you would like to get a nice workout in before/after Thanksgiving

– Murphy Ranch Trail

If you’re really looking for an adventure go to Murphy Ranch Trail! It is an old, abandoned campsite that is spread out across the Palisade Hills. There are many old buildings with colorful graffiti that’s really interesting to see. This is definitely a place to go with friends if you want to get a lot of exercise. And it’s a plus that you will be too busy looking at the buildings to realize you got so much exercise into your day.

-Griffith Park

If you want to cross seeing the Hollywood Sign up close off your bucket list, this is the place to go! This is a great, long hike, but it is worth it because you’re so close to the Hollywood sign. I suggest going at sunset because it is absolutely beautiful!

3. Take advantage of your neighborhood! Go for a run a few times over the break.

4. Go bike riding at the beach.

5. If you’re running errands, walk instead of going by car, or better yet, really run.

6. Try to eat healthy. Cut back on the processed foods, and eat smaller meals during the day. Thanksgiving is an exception; eat all the food you like.

Have a great Thanksgiving, and try some of these ideas to stay fit after eating a big Thanksgiving meal!
