Each sport has a certain meaning to each of its players. Whether on or off the field or court, Hannah Peck ’16 is constantly thinking about her daily athletic sports. Hannah, a junior, plays not only volleyball during the fall, but also soccer during the winter. Balancing both can be difficult at times, as she sometimes has tiring back to back practices, but no matter what she pushes through. This year, Peck decided to take a break from school volleyball but continues to play for a club. In addition, she plays for not only school but also club soccer. Hannah says, “I love volleyball and soccer because they are team sports, you aren’t alone, ever. Your team wins together and loses together. It is kind of like a family.” Sports to her aren’t just about staying in shape; they help her form a bond with her team and make lifelong friends. She works so hard everyday to become a better athlete. Hannah, now a star athlete at Marymount had to go through a lot in order to get the position she now holds, “Being a successful athlete doesn’t just happen, it takes hard work and lots of hours in the gym or on the field.” Her sports are what keep her driven for success in the future. What she does and the effort she puts into athletics truly define her as a committed athlete who loves her sports.
