We’re a month into the new year and you still don’t know what the hottest trends of 2015 will be? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Read on to find out what fashions, movies, and books you should keep a look out for until it is time to watch the ball drop over Times Square once again!

First: fashion. This year, we can expect to see a continuation of some of last year’s greatest fashion trends, but don’t be so quick to call 2015 an outfit repeater! As we approach spring and summer — and let’s face it, in Los Angeles, February is practically already summer — look out for gladiator sandals, shirt dresses, gingham, and yellow (no, not the Coldplay song, it’s a color). Break out your monotones because there’ll be a lot of mixing black and white, and I’m sure we’ll see plenty shades of blue. For a more edgy look, try wearing culottes, army green jumpsuits, one shoulder cuts, obi belts, and kimono-style trench coats. Get out your roomy denim and polo shirts for that classic California summer casual look.

Once the heat subsides and the days start to cool down (if we can even call 75 degrees “cool”), embrace the fall with moto jackets, plaid (don’t be afraid to venture beyond shirts for this one) and edgy sneakers. Don’t stick to just one style of jeans either! If all you go for are dark-washed skinny jeans, try mixing it up with some lighter ripped jeans and boyfriend jeans. Turtleneck sweaters, ankle boots, and large totes will always be classics. Deep greens can add some color to your wardrobe while maintaining that autumn attitude as well.

On the subject of movies, we’ll be seeing new installments of some of our favorite series. Make sure you perfect your popcorn recipes in time for Avengers: Age of Ultron, Minions, Furious 7, Ted 2, Mockingjay: Part 2, Star Wars Episode VII — The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Fantastic Four, Terminator Genisys and Insurgent.

However, not everything is a throwback. If you’re looking for something new, check out Paper Towns, a story about a boy named Q and four of his friends who go on a road trip to find Margo, the girl next door, after she goes missing. Another new film is Tomorrowland, about a teen and former boy-genius’ revealing of a world that exists in memory somewhere in time and space.

If you’re the type of person who thinks a movie is never as good as the book, don’t worry! There are a lot of new books coming our way this 2015. Such books include Harper Lee’s sequel of To Kill a Mockingbird, John Boyne’s A History of Loneliness (not to be confused with Marina Keegan’s The Opposite of Loneliness), Niina Pollari’s book of poetry Dead Horse, and Mark Doten’s debut novel The Infernal based on American life post-9/11.

2015 is revving up to be a year filled with great stories and new fashions; these upcoming trends will keep you interested and busy all the way up until 2016!
