Nothing says the start of the Christmas season more than waking up early Friday morning to get first dibs on the hottest sales. But is black Friday still relevant?

This year, it seemed as if black Friday deals were starting way before Thanksgiving. Inboxes were bombarded with emails advertising the great black Friday sales that could be shopped early online. The truth is that black Friday sales are great if one has a specific item in mind, yet entering stores hoping to buy clothes for cheaper prices is pointless. Many stores often offer better sales after Christmas than before.

Although black Friday is not the best time to by deals, is it the best time to buy Christmas presents for your friends and relatives? In my experience, black Friday has proved ineffective in buying gifts for my friends and family members as I usually have a specific gift in mind and these items don’t normally go on sale. But many of my friends have found success in waking up at the crack of dawn and buying Christmas presents for all their acquaintances.

Success during black Friday really varies depending on the goals and the strength of the individual. I personally enjoy cyber Monday, as it does not require leaving my home in order to obtain amazing deals. Ultimately, black Friday is a holiday created by stores to encourage buyers and to officially start the highly anticipated Christmas season.
