Have you ever been in the situation where you tell yourself that you are going to start exercising but instead find that you can’t drag yourself off the couch and away from Netflix?  (You’re lying if you haven’t!) Well, good news: we’re here to enlighten you on how to both watch Netflix and exercise at the same time!  We call it…*Nexercise.*  Nexercising is an easy, convenient, and affordable way to both keep in shape and keep up with your favorite shows! There is no wrong way to Nexercise, but we have provided some options that might be useful and fun.  Here’s how to do it:

First, pick your favorite show or movie to watch!

Now, time for NEXERCISE!

Option 1: Situps

This is a great Nexercise for beginners.  Simply lie down on the floor/yoga mat, and place your computer or tablet on a chair in front of you. Now, as your show is playing, you will have to sit up in order to see the screen!

Option 2: Chair/couch/bed dips

This is the perfect exercise for any Nexerciser looking to work their triceps. To do this exercise you will need to use a sturdy chair, couch, or even the edge of your bed. Facing away from the seat (and towards your screen), sit down with your hands behind your hips at shoulder width apart. Next, position yourself so your bottom is off the seat and your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle. Then, bend your elbows, lowering your body with you.

Option 3: Oblique reaches

For this next exercise, sit on the edge of your chair, couch, or bed, and position your legs in a wide stance and place your arms by your sides. Next, engage your core and reach to the right (your right elbow should almost touch your leg). Then, repeat on the left side.

Net-flexing

Net-flexing includes the use of weights for a more difficult and rewarding workout. We would say that this is more of an option for intermediate Nexercisers.

Option 1: Bicep curls

Bicep curls are a great option for those looking to tone their arms. Simply stand or sit in front of your computer or television and hold one weight in each hand with your palms facing outwards. Keeping your elbows close to your sides, curl the weights toward you and then slowly bring them back down to your starting position.

Option 2: Dumbbell squats

For this exercise, stand with your legs shoulder width apart. You can either hold a dumbbell in each hand or hold one dumbbell with both hands. Then, lower your torso and bend your knees to complete the squat. Remember to keep your core engaged and head up!

Option 3: Calf raises

This last exercise will allow you to cool down a bit. Simply stand in front of your screen, put your hands on your hips, and lift your heels up and down.
