St. Patrick’s Day, on March 17th, is a holiday commemorating St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. This day of observance celebrates Ireland’s culture and traditions, and, most importantly, the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.  All people today, whether they are Christian or non-Christian, Irish or non-Irish, celebrate this day with clovers, fun and lots of green. Below are five easy ways join in on the fun of St. Patrick’s Day!

  1. Attend a St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Join many others in your area to celebrate the holiday together with food, music, and more.

  2. Dye your water green: The Chicago River and the fountain in front of the White House in Washington D.C. both dye their waters for St. Patrick’s Day.

  3. Cook, eat, and share green foods: Search up some easy Irish recipes or just simply garnish your regular food with some green to celebrate.

  4. Go to a St. Patrick’s Day Mass: Since this holiday stemmed from a religious figure, taking part in Mass might be the best way to really honor St. Patrick’s Day.

  5. Wear green clothes and accessories: There’s no better way to celebrate than decorating yourself with the pivotal aspect of this holiday: green!
