Recap of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2

Recap+of+The+Summer+I+Turned+Pretty+Season+2

From love triangles to beach houses, Belly and the boys were sure to keep us entertained this summer. Now that season 3 is approaching, we made sure to give you a recap of all the things you should remember for season 3.

Devastated after the heart-wrenching death of Susanna, everyone is gradually recovering. Conrad is at college, Steven and Jeremiah are finishing their senior year, and Belly is finishing their junior year. It has also been only a few months after the disappointing Prom where Belly and Conrad breakup as well as Belly’s discovery of Conrad with another girl at Susanna’s funeral, both causes of their fallout. In addition, Conrad and Jeremiah have bad blood after both have had their hearts broken by Belly, yet still want to be with her.

As far apart as all the characters are, one major event brings them back together: the possibility of the beach house being sold by the dreaded Aunt Julia, who only resurfaces after the death of Susannah. This is not an option for Conrad, Jeremiah, and Belly, who are very connected to the house. Losing the house would mean losing their last piece of Susannah as well as the loss of the magic of the summertime captivated by Susannah that they used to experience every year. Belly and the boys, along with Taylor and Steven, go to Cousins to fix the situation. They meet up with Cam and Skye, Aunt Julia’s child who is introduced in the new season. While at the house, tension rises between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah as they haven’t seen each other in months. In addition, Taylor is rather standoffish around Steven because of her new boyfriend Milo. Steven shows his feelings for Taylor which leads to a breakup between Taylor and Milo as well as a pretty good diss track titled “Getting Even With Steven.” They go on to be an official couple by the end of the season, a relationship many fans have been hoping for since season one.

Belly’s life just might be the most complicated of any character this season. From mixed signals from both Conrad and Jeremiah to miscommunication with her mom, Belly feels lost and longs for Susannah for comfort. By the end of the season, Belly patches up issues with her mom and they both come to accept their grief caused by Susannah’s death and realize how it has affected them. Eventually, Belly chooses Jeremiah at the end of the season, a choice which left team Conrad fans devastated.

In the end, Aunt Julia gives in after being swayed by Laurel, Belly’s mom, and the rest, realizing her rocky relationship with Susannah shouldn’t impact the kids who were so passionate about the house.

This season was filled with a rollercoaster of emotions, and we’re excited for what’s next!
