With all the remarkable movies that have come out in 2024, the competition for the 2025 Oscar Awards will be an enticing watch. From musicals to action movies, this year has provided a wide variety of brilliant films and actors/actresses for the Academy Members to choose from. For the award of Best Picture, there is no apparent movie that dominates the predicted rankings, which makes this year’s awards show even more exciting. However, the recent film, Wicked, has received high praise from the audience and was arguably one of the most anticipated movies of 2024.

Anora, a film unpacking the struggle of a young woman, has suddenly taken a place in many sources’ lists and is favored by professional critics. Another common movie nominated in the predictions was The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody, a loosely based true story about an immigrant architect who finds success in Pennsylvania after escaping post-war Europe. Lastly, the sequel, Gladiator II, was a popular choice and was said to have an “interesting throughline,” with its counterpart, says a Rotten Tomato Top Critic. Many other films are worthy of the Oscar and could unexpectedly make a comeback, but until then we can expect these motion pictures to likely be nominated.
