On May 5, 2025, The Met Gala hosted its 77th Annual iconic gala with the opening of their exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves To Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the dress code was called “tailored for you,” a nod at the exhibit’s center of menswear. This year, the Met was hosted by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour as co-chair, along with Lebron James as honorary chair. The Met Gala hosts are responsible for creating the guest list as well as working with chefs to create the menu for the evening.

During the evening, hundreds of celebrities and stars such as Zendaya, Rihanna, Demi Moore, Cynthia Erivo, and more were on par with the theme and walked the daffodils and midnight blue carpet. Many attendees opted for a more tailored suit fitted to the theme such as Zendaya with her sleek white look and massive hat. The world was shocked when Rihanna came to the carpet wearing a Marc Jacobs dress at 10 pm showcasing her new baby bump, making this her third child with partner, A$AP Rocky. With the success of the 2024 Olympics, many athletes such as gold-winning gymnast, Simone Biles, and the fastest women in the world, Sha’carri Richardson, were present.

With the success of this year’s Met Gala, we are waiting in anticipation to see what Anna Wintour has up her sleeve for next year.
