This summer is going to be the rebirth of 2016 and the beginning of much unseen before. New foods, styles, places, and, of course, new music. This list includes pop, rap, indie, instrumental, and even genres like psychedelic rock, meaning there is something for everyone.
Young Dumb & Broke – Khalid
The 2016 revival is on the rise this year, and the summer will definitely bring this idea out more. Although not released in 2016, Khalid’s “Young Dumb & Broke” was made in 2017, and it gives off a similar vibe to other 2016 songs like “Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake and “One Dance” by Drake. Furthermore, Khalid’s concert in June will accentuate his prevalence in this summer’s songs.
Low Sun – Hermanos Gutiérrez
This Latin and instrumental song embodies the feeling of mid-August in the extreme heat of Los Angeles. Its relaxed feel makes it the perfect tanning song after the buzzing months of June and July.
PUNK ROCKY – A$AP Rocky
PUNK ROCKY uses both indie rock and psychedelic rock, vastly different from the majority of his music, but still bringing a sense of summer. Along with the rest of A$AP’s new album, Don’t Be Dumb, this song will be on repeat the entire summer. Like Khalid, A$AP is going on tour this summer for Don’t Be Dumb, furthering the excitement for his first album in 8 years.
You & Me Time – BETWEEN FRIENDS
Just like the other songs in their album, WOW!, You & Me Time has a very upbeat feel. This song embodies the energetic, party-filled early summer, using strong vocals and instrumentation to deliver great vibes.
Weekend Friend – Goth Babe
This upbeat indie song brings the perfect spirit for hiking and beach days. It’s outdoorsy and free feel perfectly resembles the carefree lifestyle that comes with summer. The song, though made in 2019, feels nostalgic through its combination of indie, dream pop, and surf rock styles and lyrics of human connection.
Belles – Marques Martin
Marques Martin, an up-and-coming artist, creates sci-fi, rap, and hip-hop-inspired music as the producer, lyricist, and rapper. This throwback song has been on the rise, with 2026 being dubbed 2016’s revival. Its electronic feel with stunning vocals evokes nostalgia in all listeners, making it an electrifying song for hangouts and long summer nights.
