As the cross country team approaches their second league meet of the season, they are doing incredibly well. In the first league meet, they placed 2nd, barely two points behind Harvard Westlake. One may ask, “how could a single person be able to run three miles so fast?” Well, as sophomore Lizzie Rielley pointed out, “it all goes back to Mammoth.”

This past August, nine cross country runners traveled to Mammoth to experience an intense, fast-paced, and fun running camp with Coach Lasan. Some of the hardest challenges of the trip were the altitude and the incline experienced on many of the runs. The girls ran twice every day, and in between runs, they often had yoga sessions, explored a nearby lake, or learned life lessons from Coach Lasan. Overall, the intense workouts and runs that the girls endured during the summer and the Mammoth trip gave them an incredible foundation and set them up for an amazing season. It all goes back to the work they put in during the summer when looking at the amazing results and victories they are accomplishing now. Next time you see them, make sure to cheer on your cross country team and wish them good luck!
