Emma Sainsbury-Carter, a junior at Marymount, has been selected to compete in the DHL Surf Rescue Challenge Competition this November in New Zealand. She is one of eight young women in the entire United States that has been selected to compete for the USA team. She specializes in swimming. Emma has devoted so much time and effort towards the sport and enjoys every moment of it.

She trains with her club swim team six days a week for three hours each night and then trains one day a week with her surf rescue challenge coach for five hours. At sixteen years old, she is the youngest on the US team, and she is also the only new member this year. Her favorite part about the sport is that she gets to compete against and surround herself with people who risk their lives every day in order to save other people’s lives. She hopes to pursue a career as a lifeguard when she gets older. As the competition gets closer and closer, don’t forget to wish Emma good luck!!
