Hiking Trails in the LA Area

Are you looking for awesome hiking trails, as well as a way to explore places that define the diversity of Los Angeles’ land from city to nature? Let’s look at the most popular LA trails and some of the lesser-known trails.

To start off strong, the Runyon Canyon hike ranks as one of the most popular hikes to do in Los Angeles. It is a pretty easy trail; it’s great if you have just started hiking. It is about 2.7 miles and should take about 1 ½ hours to complete at an average pace. The view site at the top of Runyon Canyon hike flaunts the scenic Santa Monica Mountains, the big city, and the iconic Hollywood sign.

Speaking of the Hollywood sign, you could take the Hollywood sign hike to see the back of the huge letters that represent our city. This hike has several starting options but if you are looking for a medium level of intensity, this hike starts at Innsdale Trail, and Mt. Lee Drive offers a 4.4 mile hike. Depending on pace it should take about 2-2 ½ hours to complete. This hike is a favorite to show LA newcomers and see the beautiful city for yourself.

A lesser-known hike but still as pretty is the Los Leones Trail. This is also a moderately challenging hike. It is about 4.5 miles there and back and about 2 ½ hours on average. This hike’s scenery includes the oceans and perfect greenery in the spring.

The Temescal Canyons Hike near the Pacific Palisades has tons of cute waterfalls and flowers along the way. This hike is a 3-mile long loop and it is estimated that it will take an hour and 45 minutes to complete; It is beautiful year-round and very well maintained.
