Are you an athlete looking to keep up your stamina outside of practice? Do you want to level up in your sport? Do you want to stay active when it isn’t mandatory? Well, here are some great tips to help you stay fit outside of your mandatory practice!
- Bike
Biking is a great mode of transportation for those short-distance weekend errands. Instead of driving to the neighborhood grocery store, bike next time! It will help you feel refreshed while also helping out the environment, and achieving the goal of getting whatever groceries you need to get.
2. Swim
If you have access to a swimming pool, swimming is a great exercise as it is low impact, relieves stress, and improves lung function! If you want to get in better physical shape, swimming is the way to go!
3. Group Workouts
Having a friend or teammate to motivate you when working out outside of the mandatory practice days is awesome! Whether you go running together, take a pilates class, or weight lift, knowing that there’s someone to back you up can make a world of difference in your sports grind.
4. Speed and Agility
When practicing extra, it is important to get repetitions in the areas of your sport that you need some practice in. One of these consistently is your speed and agility. As athletes, no matter what sport you play, you have to be fast on your feet and agile. Speed drills such as shuffling around cones, sprinting, box jumps, and ladders can improve your athletic performance greatly!
5. Nutrition
Lastly, keeping your nutrition in check is crucial if you want to grow as an athlete. Make sure that you get adequate vitamins and minerals in your food, as well as the important macromolecules of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Also, don’t neglect your vegetables! There are so many yummy recipes online to choose from!
