The San Diego Crew Classic is a world-renowned Spring Rowing regatta held annually at Crown Point on Mission Bay. Every year, over four thousand athletes from tens of crew teams come together from March 28th to March 30th to compete in over 100 racing events, including opportunities for youth, collegiate, masters, and para athletes to compete.

This year, we had many sponsors such as Concept 2, row2k, US Rowing Wintech, and US Marines. Along with sponsors came the many vendors. Food trucks such as Taco Love, Born in Brooklyn and Belgium Waffles came to support and fuel up athletes and spectators alike.
Lots of wonderful racing went down this year! As for collegiate women’s rowing, Texas University won the Varsity 8 race with a whopping 6:29! In the Varisty 4, Texas took another win with a 7:30. In the 2V, Stanford secured a first place win with a 6:45! Men’s collegiate rowing had a great showing as well with UC San Diego winning the 8+ A category, and the Copley Cup Invitational for Men’s went to Cal Berkeley with a 5:46!
As for Junior women’s rowing, Marin secured the u16 8+ win with a 7:19, the U17 quad’s Redwood Scullers won with a 7:51, 10 seconds apart from second place, and in the U19 category, Utah crew secured a 7:59 win.
Master’s rowing had many events as well such as the women’s Club 4+, with San Diego Rowing Club securing an 8:10, the mixed master’s 8 finished with an 8:50, and the men’s masters 8 win by Club Nautico de San Juan.
Many of the trophies received were dedicated to major donors including The Copley Cup, given to the winning men’s collegiate Varsity 8, the Jessop Whittier Cup for the women’s collegiate Varisty 8, the Campland trophy for the Women’s Master’s 8 and the ZLAC Rowing Club for the Women’s Youth 2V.
Many San Diego locals come every late March to watch the spectacle from their balconies, a walk along the beach or a beach volleyball game. Along with the actual racing, San Diego Crew Classic also has alumni tents for rowing alumni along with a cherished brunch where all types of rowing enthusiasts join together to enjoy a nice meal in the morning in a shaded tent with amazing views of the racing!
One of the most special aspects of the San Diego Crew Classic is that volunteers make the regatta possible! Volunteers aid in stakeboating, announcing, organizing the President’s dinner, and serving as photographers. Many of the locals or others in the rowing world join the volunteer team in order to give back to their sport or support their community!
Lastly, but not least, the merch tent was thriving! Tank tops, sweatpants, and pins represented the 2025 San Diego Crew Classic itself, along with US rowing jibbits, shorts, and jackets. I made sure to come home with a little merch to remember the regatta!
