How to Survive Finals, Love Your Honor Council

As finals draw closer, stress and anxiety levels begin to hit an all-time high. Therefore, your Honor Council has prepared for you 10 tips and pointers to help you get through this hard time:  

  1. Study in advance- Finals are not the time to cram all the information you have learned into one day. Start studying in advance to give yourself time to cover all the material in an in-depth manner.
  2. Get lots of sleep- Without sleep it can be hard to focus, as finals are a time to really concentrate, therefore, you need to be well rested.
  3. Form a study group- authorized collaboration is a great way to study for finals. It has been proven that teaching someone else allows you to retain the information most efficiently.
  4. Make an organized schedule- Make a schedule and stick to it, as it allows you to utilize your time in the best way possible.
  5. Take study breaks- Your brain needs a break! It cannot function for 6 hours straight on just studying. Try going to the gym, taking a short nap, or even just talking to your friends. Remember that breaks are important in order to be in the right mindset for studying.
  6. Attend Review sessions held by your teachers- Teachers can provide additional information that may help you during finals, whether that being topics to focus on or just tips to help you study.
  7. Prioritize studying- During finals studying should be your top priority, so try not to do busy work.
  8. Ask Questions- By asking questions, you can receive needed clarity on a certain topic that will once again allow you to improve your overall score.
  9. Hydrate and Eat well- Nutrition and health are very important as you need to have the energy, physically and mentally, to complete a task, to the best of your ability.
  10. Hide or put away any distractions- Hide your phone and turn your computer on do-not-disturb. Once you have done these things you will be able to have ample quality study time that allows for a lot to be gotten done in a shorter period of time.
