Behind Sunset Magazine at Marymount

Alex Fidanovski ‘21, Staff Writer

Sunset Magazine is Marymount’s Literary Magazine. Every year Sunset compiles submissions from Marymount’s students to create a beautiful collection of work that reflects Marymount’s student body. These submissions range from artwork, writing and photography and are beautifully compiled together under a specific theme. Last year, Sunset’s theme was Anthropology which meant that the work selected for the magazine incorporated aspects of the human body. The Sunset staff ‘20-’21, led by both Editors in Chief (Alex Fidanovski and Jane Clements) and Mrs. Cowan, dedicate both semesters to selecting images, stories/poems and artwork that best fits the theme. Once pieces are anonymously looked at and chosen, the magazine is created and sent to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Sunset has won awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association multiple times as a result of the creativity and beauty Marymount students produce. If you have finished a creative piece over quarantine whether it be poetry, photography, a short story, or any visual piece in any medium, Sunset really encourages you to submit.

If you’re a student and interested, please submit any work to our email: [email protected]
