As we conclude our senior year at Marymount, we are immensely grateful for our incredible experience with The Anchor for the last four years. From the very start of freshman year to the very end of senior year, The Anchor was a place where we could continue to grow and develop as students, as writers, and most importantly, as people. The Anchor has taught the three of us what it means to be hardworking, persevering, and confident in so many ways. As we prepare to leave Marymount and begin new chapters in our lives, we will never forget the many amazing memories that we have made with The Anchor: the excitement of seeing our first articles get published, the excitement of being selected to be on the Editorial Board, and the complete and total happiness at knowing we would get to leave a true legacy here at Marymount as Editors-in-Chief. What made it all the more special was the fact that we’ve grown up side-by-side since kindergarten, all the way through elementary, middle, and high school. The experiences we’ve shared over such a long period of time have been truly one-of-a-kind, and even as we go our separate ways, a part of us will always remain here at Marymount and on The Anchor, rooted in friendship and a journey that began long before we knew where our lives would take us. This fall, Julianne will be attending Texas Christian University, Taylor will be attending the University of Texas at Austin, and Ava will be attending Vanderbilt University! We are so excited to see what the future holds, and we will miss all of you so much!
Ms. Brady: We are so grateful not only to have had you as a teacher and moderator of The Anchor, but also as a valuable mentor. Your guidance and constant support were extremely helpful, and we all had an amazing time working together. Beyond everything you’ve done for us with school and The Anchor, you have set an incredible example for us in everything you do; you’ve taught us to live life fully, to treat others with grace, and to always trust in ourselves. You make the world a better place just by being in it, and we are so beyond grateful to you for aiding us every step of the way this year. Thank you so much, Ms. Brady, for everything! We promise to come back and visit all the time…we will miss you so much!!
To this year’s Section Editors: Thank you so much for your constant dedication, hard work, and commitment to The Anchor this year! You all made such impactful contributions through title ideas and editing. You are all so incredibly smart, hard-working, and dedicated in everything you do. Whether you are going off to college next year or are preparing for another year on the Editorial Board, know that we are so incredibly proud of all of you and so confident that you will be successful no matter what the future holds! We know it can be challenging to balance this with school and extracurriculars, but you all did an outstanding job. We are so appreciative and proud of your contributions! A special thank you to our graduating section editors, thank you for putting so much effort into these past four years and your time on the Anchor. You will be missed, and your legacy will always be seen in all of the amazing articles you’ve written and edited!
To the new Editors-in-Chief: Congratulations, Valentina, Victoria, and Caroline! We are so excited for each of you to take on this leadership role and excel at it. Being the Editor-in-Chief seems daunting, but we have full confidence in all of you that you have what it takes to succeed and successfully lead the production of The Anchor. You’re going to crush it next year as seniors! Make sure to be in constant communication with the rest of the Editorial Board, and always be a support system for them. You are the leaders of The Anchor! Please remember that we are just a phone call or text away. Reach out anytime if you have questions. We are so excited for you!
To the new Section Editors: We are so thrilled to have all of you on the Editorial Board, congrats! This next step in your journey with The Anchor is exciting, so soak it in! Each one of you was chosen for a reason, and we have complete faith in your abilities. We wouldn’t want to leave The Anchor with anyone else! Always remember to stay organized and on top of deadlines, hold your writers accountable, and remember that communication is key! If you ever need help, your Editors-in-Chief are always there for you. We are so excited for what you all will accomplish!
To the Staff Writers: Thank you all so very much for your contribution to The Anchor! You all were responsible for bringing article ideas to life, and you all did an outstanding job! We hope you all continue to write for The Anchor and feel compelled to apply for the Editorial Board to get even more involved! Keep sharing your writing with the Marymount community!
It has been an honor and a privilege serving as your Editors-In-Chief this year, and we are so grateful that The Anchor was able to be a special part of our Marymount experiences. We are sad to leave, but are so excited for the new Editorial Board and Staff! We hope that The Anchor continues to serve as an outlet for Marymount students to display their creativity, write about topics that they are passionate about, and ultimately develop confidence and further their writing skills. We will all miss Marymount, the community, and we are deeply grateful to have had this opportunity. From kindergarten to elementary school to middle school to high school, getting to grow up together and end this chapter together has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime, full-circle experience. This isn’t a goodbye: it’s a see you later. We can’t wait to visit!
Farewell Anchor!
For the last time,
Sincerely,
Julianne, Taylor, & Ava
