Over the course of spring break, eighteen Marymount girls will join Madame Abensour on an adventurous journey to the City of Love: Paris. During this trip, they will explore the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles and the astounding Eiffel Tower, tour the Notre Dame Cathedral, try savory croissants and macaroons, and shop in boutiques, and enjoy many other experiences! In order to get a more in-depth understanding of what such a trip entails, I interviewed Madame Abensour and asked her some questions regarding her hopes for the trip.

What are some of the places that the Marymount girls will visit?

They will be visiting the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Les Champs- Elysée , l’ Arc de Triomphe, le Louvre, Montmartre, and they will also spend a day at a French High School! The girls will also have a tour of delicious French pastries and chocolate shops.”

What are you most excited for on this trip?

I am really excited to see how excited the girls will be to visit these French monumental attractions. They will experience real life in Paris and not through the textbooks or the Internet.”

What are you most scared about on this trip?

I’m afraid that if one of the girls gets sick, she will not be able to experience this astonishing trip to the fullest.”

How many times have you been to Paris?

Easily more than 100 times! I lived in Paris for a while, I go there every holiday and my family lives there!”

What is your favorite French restaurant?

I love the famous Cafe de la Paix and their Croque-madame is amazing. It is a hot, French sandwich with ham, cheese, a béchamel sauce and it is topped with a fried egg. It even comes with frites, which are French fries!”

How many students are going on this trip?

“18 girls from 4 different grades. There are five freshmen, eight sophomores, two juniors, and three seniors.”

What should students be aware of when they are on this trip?

They should be super aware of pickpocketing in the subway and they should not be on their phones 24/7! I want them to experience the French culture and it would be too bad if they miss that opportunity! Also, they should be listening to the tour guide and most importantly, students should always remember not to shout. It is considered a sign of vulgarity in France!”

What is one local place that you recommend for students to visit?

I recommend that students visit The Latin Quarter. It is near the Sorbonne University and is a student’s neighborhood. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and boutiques there so it’s a great place to hang out!”
