Now that school has begun, our schedules have become busier than ever, and time is precious. But, so is keeping our daily snacks organic and nutritious. Here are a few foods/snacks that are simple to make and include healthy ingredients and correct nutrients for you to stay energized for school!

First off, toast is always a good idea for a quick snack, but if you’re looking for something more, putting a healthy and delicious spread on top of whole-wheat bread is a great option. Adding peanut butter, avocado, almond butter, or other healthy spreads can make that much of a difference. On top of those, complementing that with sliced fruit, assorted nuts or chia seeds, or a few fried eggs are a healthy way to spice up your toast.

The simple yet tasty “ants on a log” snack is also a great option to bring to school or to munch on after school. To make this, you only need celery, peanut butter, and raisins; this food is easy to make and delightful to eat!

Lastly, this healthy frozen yogurt bites recipe is perfect if you are craving ice cream, but want to make choices better suited to a healthy lifestyle. For these, you only need yogurt, your choice of berries, an ice tray, and a freezer. In addition, any type of milk, vanilla extract, or honey is also required. This recipe is a perfect on-the-go breakfast option that only requires 10 minutes of your time the night before. Mix  1 ½ cups of plain Greek yogurt, ¼ cup of soy or almond milk, 2 tablespoons of honey, and ½ tablespoon of vanilla extract together in a bowl. Taking your ice tray, add the fruits of your choice into each square and then fill each mold completely. Pop your filled ice tray into the freezer, and by morning, you will have a delicious and healthy breakfast! It is important to keep in mind that keeping your snacks healthy will give you that extra energy boost, and overall a better day. Your body is your engine; you just need to give it the correct fuel!
