5 activities to engage in while staying safe in the pandemic!

Lucia Sun

Pandemic fatigue is the exhaustion of an individual’s emotions due to the lack of physical activity. In short, it means getting tired of sitting indoors all day.

One issue with this pandemic is that our old ways of “having fun” do not meet the safety standards. In the past, it was a whole lot easier to go outside and socialize. You could dine at a restaurant or even gather with friends at a large concert without having to worry about masks or social distancing.

However, if there’s one thing the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, it’s how to be creative. As 2021 is coming to an end, we need some new approaches on how to have fun.

Here are 5 fun (and simple) activities to engage in, while staying safe:

1) Take up a new hobby

Find something you’re passionate about and delve further into that area of interest. This might be the perfect time to learn that song you’ve always wanted to play on the guitar, bake some pastries, pick up a new language and much more.

2) Mindful Art

Draw a picture everyday, document your progress, or even color to reduce stress. Expressing yourself through art is a healthy outlet as it helps balance your mood. There are many monthly art prompts designated within each month for artists to follow along with.

3) Participate in virtual activities together with friends.

These can include, but are not limited to, virtual concerts, games, etc. Hosting virtual events is both safe and fun. Participants will be able to engage in events from the comfort of their own room.

4) Drive-in movies.

The COVID-19 pandemic has popularized drive-in movie theaters in the U.S. Not only is this something people can enjoy together, it also fits the social distancing requirements.

5) Start bullet journaling or create a monthly planner.

This is a great way to stay organized and on task. Bullet journaling is a great way to set some new goals for yourself. Checking off those boxes in style!
