MUN is Fun: An update on TritonMUN and PACMUN

Smriti Kaushik ‘20, Marymount News Section Editor

These past few months have been busy yet successful for Marymount’s stellar MUN team. Firstly, on October 26th, the team competed in their very first college conference at UC San Diego. Out of the 17 delegates who competed, 4 garnered individual awards; this makes up an impressive 32% out of the entire Marymount delegation. Despite the wins, every single delegate who attended the conference put in their best efforts and learned many new skills to be used in future conferences.

Moreover, the most recent conference was Marymount’s annual out of state trip. This year they decided to, once again, compete in the PACMUN conference up in Seattle. The team consisted of 18 experienced delegates with Mr. Levine and Ms. Kolstad as their moderators. They left early in the morning on Friday, November 22nd, and returned back home late at night on Sunday, November 24th. Within the course of these three days, the team did not solely compete in a standard MUN conference. Instead, with the amount of time they had, they got the chance to experience a midnight crisis, bond with their committee, attend a PACMUN special dance called the “social”, and explore the beautiful city of Seattle. Additionally, at the end of the third day, 3 Marymount delegates won awards! PACMUN is known for being a rigorous conference, and the amount of hard work that all the delegates put in definitely paid off in the end. Thus, with these past two recent conferences, the Marymount MUN team is looking strong and we cannot wait to see and support them in their future endeavors for the rest of the year!
