From Facebook to Meta pt. 2: Mixed Reviews

After their rebranding to Meta, Facebook has received a great deal of mixed reviews based on the execution of Mark Zuckerberg’s future plans for the company. Since the change, customers have found Meta to be an excellent platform that allows them to experience the company of others in a new, ‘modern’ way while others have continued to deal with the bugs and the bots of the platforms.

Meta has been significantly impacted by the halt in user growth, resulting in their stocks to plummet and their earning reports to crash. Three months after the change, Meta suffered a 26 percent decrease in stocks,  along with a $230 billion market value plunge. Slightly negative reviews on Meta have given insight into the apparent limits the platform has had on customers and their capabilities in apps and with technology. The networking app lost about half a million users in the last quarter, which genuinely surprised the company, especially in a time that was assumed to attract more users. The success of the metaverse is untrustworthy and even unexpected for many customers. Zuckerberg’s concepts and ideas are not established and generally seen as fuzzy and theoretical. Though Zuckerberg has his ideas and completely believes that the metaverse is the vision for the internet’s next generation, he is essentially investing in the future and things that may not even come. His spending came to around $10 billion last year and he plans to drop even more in the future. Mark Zuckerberg’s request for faith in him and his metaverse vision has continued to leave customers on the edge of their seats.

Though the gap between negative and positive Meta reviews are significant, the usefulness of Meta is still acknowledged by a handful of people. People have discovered the positives in varying aspects such as work experience, customer experience, and personal benefits. Past employees have described the work experience to be ‘productive’, ‘cooperative’, and ‘inclusive’. Employees went through the process of the rebranding, resulting in the necessary action to learn the new attributes of the company and any other parts working at a company like Meta would entail. Through this experience, employees felt very supported and acknowledged a sense of growth fostering. Other positive reviews reflected on the idea of bringing people together and feeling closer to family despite being so far away.

Meta’s prosperity is not set in stone, but as Mark Zuckerberg continues to take steps towards his envisioned metaverse future, customer reviews will continue to give insight on accomplishments and lack of achievements.
