As concerns rise about worsening inflation, people wonder if consumer price fluctuations will ever cease. In March 2022, inflation rates hit an all-time high and the increase is deeply affecting everyone, especially low-income families. The average price of gas in California is up 38 percent compared to last year and is currently at $5.00 to $6.00 per gallon, making it difficult for people to commute long distances. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it has caused the United States to lose one of its most significant fossil fuel suppliers, causing energy prices to skyrocket. The higher gas and energy prices are causing the inflation crisis in America to worsen leading to complicating Federal Reserve’s efforts.

The increase in inflation has grown exponentially and it has become the worst since the early 1980s after World War II. The inflation rate is going up nearly 8 percent every year, and there is no sign of it changing or going down. The rise in the price of groceries, rent, and gas has affected everyone economically, especially low-income families. According to this year’s reports, the rise in inflation is raising the concept of a period of stagnation or recession in economies. The worsening inflation started in the 1960s as a result of the flood of government spending due to the Vietnam war and the loose Federal Reserve policy.
