President Joe Biden’s Speech on Climate Change at the
Leaders Summit on Climate (New York Magazine)

As President Biden completes his first year in office, many Americans are concerned about a number of issues, including climate change, product line constraints, and inflation. They are also angry that government officials don’t appear to be making much headway in solving these issues. In April 2022, the Biden administration announced that he would be making one of the greatest actions against climate change in American history.

Biden’s Climate Action would include steps to ensure that the United States achieves a 100% clean energy economy and net-zero emission by 2050, which is a very difficult task. Biden claims falling short on climate change demands is not an option and that he would utilize his power in the executive branch to make progress and significantly reduce emissions. He will do this by: Ensuring that all U.S. government installations, buildings, and facilities are more efficient and climate-ready, Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, Saving consumers money and reducing emissions through new, aggressive appliance- and building-efficiency standards, Protecting biodiversity, and much more.

The Biden proposal would make a historic investment in our clean energy future and environmental justice, which will be paid for by repealing Trump tax incentives that benefit businesses at the expense of American workers and the environment. With the additional private sector, state, and local investments, Biden’s plan for climate and environmental justice will leverage $1.7 trillion in government funding over the next 10 years, amounting to more than $5 trillion in total. The tax reduction implemented by President Trump resulted in billions in stock buybacks and increased incentives for profit-shifting offshore. Instead, according to Joe Biden, people should fund a clean energy revolution that generates domestic employment. Biden has already received much praise for his strides toward a greener society, but people are worried because presidents have a long track record of claiming to decrease climate change and not doing anything about it.
