We are always taught in school to look at the bigger picture: ignore the bad test grade you received and don’t stress over your assignments, because, in the long run, none of this will matter. However, it is not always that simple. While looking at the big picture is important, as teenagers, we are prone to stressing over the details and all the little things. But it is the stressing over these little things that allow us to grow wiser and form the big picture we strive to achieve. The big picture isn’t possible without the details. It is the small details we endure now that will shape the big picture of our future.

By envisioning the bigger picture, we are able to see the details we want to add along the way, but sometimes, these details aren’t always intentional. The unintentional ones are often the ones we hold onto the most, and these often help shape our big picture tremendously. Take a flower for example. When you first look at it, you see the beautiful petals all held together by a yellow center. However, when you step closer and look at it again, you see the small veins of the intricate petals, the sage green leaves, and all the other components which help make the flower the delicate plant that everyone adores. You realize the individual beauty all those components hold in order to bring the flower, the big picture, together. Without the details there would be no importance or distinction to our bigger picture. The details are what make the bigger picture so much more enthralling and make us look forward to the details which slowly trickle in our lives as the years go by. 

Personally, I find it very important to focus more on the big picture, rather than the details. Although worrying about the details is inevitable, at the end of the day we will face so many little details throughout our lifetimes that no matter the outcome the big picture will still be beautiful. Each detail has a meaning and life lesson behind it, whether it be good or bad, these details help shape our overall big picture, and I find that those bad little details are sometimes the ones which bring our big picture to life, adding a little spice to the mix. If you are ever worried about the details, trust me when I say that those details which don’t turn out too good, will be the ones you cherish and hold onto the most.
