Is the iPhone 14 Worth Its Cost?

On September 16th, 2022, Apple released its new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, which cost 799 dollars and 999 dollars. Apple claims that these new iPhones have the longest battery life yet, emergency SOS via satellite, a tougher, ceramic shield than any other smartphone, water resistance, a vibrant display, and crash detection. While I think a lot of these new advantages are actually very helpful, I do not think it is worth the drastic difference in money from the iPhone 13, which is 599 dollars, or other iPhones that cost even less.

iPhone 14’s new crash detection safety feature is one of the iPhone 14’s new upgrades.

I feel that many of the iPhone 14’s advantages are only beneficial in emergency situations, specifically, emergency SOS, crash detection, and water resistance. To spend 799- 999 dollars on something that only occurs in an emergency, or not very often, reaffirms the absurdity of such a high cost for advantages that will rarely occur, or never be used at all.

Moreover, I feel that the battery, shield, and visual display on past iPhones have been effective and working well enough not to be worth such an expensive upgrade. This further supports my opinion that the iPhone 14 is not worth its cost. However, I am curious to see what new upgrades Apple will add to its next iPhone. What are your thoughts?
