Which Current Musicians Will Stand the Test of Time?

Music is a vital source in most of our lives and it serves as a way for people to express and connect with their feelings and emotions. Many artists are popular and will forever remain iconic, including Elton John, Madonna, Queen, and more. These artists are examples of musicians who have already proven to have stood the test of time. Some popular songs by these artists include “Rocket Man,” “Material Girl,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” respectively. Many of these artists remain prominent in mass media, with both Elton John and Queen having biopics that portray their careers and personal lives.

Now, let’s shift gears and check out more of today’s musicians who are making waves and currently demonstrating the capacity to withstand the test of time.

To start, Taylor Swift is one of the most influential artists this year, who has received 12 Grammys and just recently wrapped up her 2023 leg of “The Eras Tour.” The Eras Tour earned $900 million in 2023, not including her ticket sales for her shows in 2024. In addition, Swift’s concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, became the highest-grossing concert film in domestic box office history with $250 million. Swift decided to re-record her first six albums because of Scooter Braun buying her masters. Furthermore, her most recent re-record  1989 (Taylor’s Version)is now the most streamed album in a day in Spotify history, a record that was previously held by her album, Midnights, released in 2022. Her latest success in her re-recordings and tour showcases her potential to withstand the test of time.

Another artist who may withstand the test of time is Beyoncé. As the most-nominated female artist in Grammy history, Beyoncé currently has 32 Grammys. Along with having recently released her new concert film, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” she has released many timeless hits that everyone is familiar with including, “Single Ladies,” “Crazy in Love,” and “Halo.” Beyoncé has been in the music industry since 1997 and yet remains to be one of the most talked about artists. Her success throughout the years has shown she is not far from proving her endurance impact over time.

Finally, Lady Gaga is a musician who also has clear potential that stands the test of time. Lady Gaga is the first woman to receive a BAFTA, Academy Award, Grammy, and Golden Globe in a single year. She is widely known for her appearance in the film, “A Star Is Born,” and her most known songs include “Bad Romance,” “Paparazzi,” and “Poker Face.” She also created the Born This Way Foundation to help support youth mental health and other admirable charities. Not only have Gaga’s songs remained iconic, but her fashion has been a testament to her bold and innovative style, setting trends and influencing the fashion industry. Lady Gaga has undeniably showcased her lasting appeal for nearly 15 years, hinting at her ability to further transcend the limitations of time. 

In conclusion, while acknowledging the amazing talent of countless artists, it’s undeniable that these three possess the unique potential to leave a significant mark to influence and inspire generations for years to come.
