Many spots on the Marymount campus don’t get the recognition they deserve! Instead of turning a blind eye to our beautiful campus, we decided to highlight the hidden gems that make our school what it is.
Hallway Spaces: The hallways at the ends of the 1st and 2nd floors of the Butler buildings are among the many great hidden spots around the Marymount campus for studying, hanging out, or even eating lunch. These hallways, located on both sides of the 2nd floor English and Religion classrooms, or next to Ms. Bonino’s room and the history office, are secluded, cozy, and great areas to lay out work or just recap your day with your friends! Located in Butler, the hallways are underused and air-conditioned, creating a cozy and comfortable place to study for upcoming assessments or just to talk to your friends and eat lunch.

Arches: The Arches between the high school building and the Admin building are another great hidden spot on campus for talking, studying, or cramming for a last-minute study session before a test. These arches, shaded by the roof, provide a cool and secluded space from the rest of campus if you need peace and quiet to study or you just want to take a break. Under the arches, there are many walls to lean against when you’re tired and sore, and it is located between two buildings, making Admin and math classes easily accessible.

Stairs in High School: The stairs at the end of the high school building, located between the performing arts office and Ms. Reilly’s math room, are another great place for friendly gatherings, homework time, or just a good place to chill in between classes. The stairs are air-conditioned and shaded, so it is a great place to go when it’s hot outside. At most times, there are not many people walking around the hallways, so the stairs provide a tranquil and calming atmosphere after the loud times around campus. These stairs are also a great place to do homework or wait for a teacher within the high school building, though you do have to watch out for those going up and down the stairs.

Spot by the Elevator: The location near the elevator on the 3rd and 2nd floors of Butler is another hidden gem around campus for studying, hanging out, and eating lunch. The area is between the elevator and a door leading to Butler, shielding those inside from the hallways and giving peace and quiet. This spot is perfect for a quick sit-down before your next class, as it gives access to all floors through the elevator. If you are working on something or hanging out with a friend but would like to stay inside the Butler building, this spot is great to consider!

Admin Building: The Admin Building is the perfect place for being near many helpful resources while also offering a secluded, quiet, calming spot for homework. There are lots of benches throughout the hall, giving you a place to sit while studying or even cramming in some homework before heading to a meeting. The Admin hallway is filled with many offices for some of our favorite people, like Ms. Martino, Ms. S, and more!

Cantwell Stairs: Another, maybe not hidden, but great spot is the Cantwell stairs. Located on the Senior lawn, they may be in plain sight, although no one really thinks to sit there! They are a great place to eat lunch with friends out in the fresh air, and also a nice place to do homework with shade underneath the building near the doors!

Outside of the DRC: The DRC is great, it’s air-conditioned, provides a silent environment, six secluded study rooms, and a printer! But sometimes you might want to eat a snack, drink your matcha, or talk to your friends, and as we all know, these things are not allowed inside the DRC. So instead, a great spot is outside the DRC! There are multiple tables, one even offers a great view of the UCLA campus. This spot is near the DRC, so if you change your mind or are done with your drink, snack, or conversations, you can make your way back inside. The fresh air is a nice break from being inside a classroom all day and is near the art building, maker space, and high school/Cantwell if that is where you’re headed next!
