Dear Santa…

Dear+Santa...

HO HO HO, MARYMOUNT! It’s that time of year again! Hot cocoa, Christmas movies, fuzzy pajamas, cold weather (which in California is 60 degrees…), cookies and gingerbread houses, and that undeniable scent of pine that lingers in your house even after Christmas has passed… my favorite!

Of course, I can’t forget one of the biggest aspects of Christmas; the holiday tradition that drives corporate America and basically takes over the whole country until “New Year New Me trends” start piling in… PRESENTS!

So, after extensive research (my Tik Tok FYP), I have compiled a list of the top 25 things that could reserve a spot on your Christmas list this year. BUT, before we get to the newest makeup products and savvy shoes, it’s important to recognize everything that we have received and all the opportunities we have been given. Gratitude is such an important part of the holiday season, and sometimes, it’s overlooked. So make sure to give a heartfelt thank you to all the people in your life that you are grateful for and who love you. And while this may sound contradictory since I’m writing a gift guide, try to think more about what you can give to others this year, rather than what you can ask for. I know mom may love a new Gucci purse or some Prada shoes, but material items only go so far… so I challenge you to create thoughtful gifts for your family that are not thousands of dollars (your wallet will thank you!).

Lastly, during this holiday season, many people don’t have homes or families to celebrate with. Some are even unable to have a Christmas dinner, muchless presents. I encourage you to spend some time over the long Christmas break serving others. Here are some organizations that could use some help during the holidays: Big Sunday has over 400 volunteer opportunities to help with holiday activities and they are taking donations as well. Additionally, The Los Angeles Adopt-A-Family program is such a great way to help another family have a wonderful Christmas season. Of course, APCH has endless volunteer opportunities for the holidays. If you don’t want to volunteer with an organization, you can always make meal bags! This is a great way to bring a piece of home to people who may not have homes. If in-person service is difficult, donating toys to any local toy drive is a great way to get involved or you can donate money to any charity.

Have a wonderful holiday season, Sailor Sisters! A merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!
