With its perfectly paced plot, it never gets boring. Elf is also good as a background movie for any Christmas activity.

When 8-year-old Kevin McCallister misbehaves the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters accidentally leave for the airport without Kevin, he wakes to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. However, his excitement fades when he realizes that two con men plan to rob the McCallister home, and he believes that he must protect the family home. Home Alone is a unique Christmas movie, as the plot is different from most Christmas movies. The mind of a creative child is shown in this movie, which ultimately advances the plot to include a mix of Christmas spirit as well as fun. This movie is very well thought out and is always a fun movie to watch during the Christmas season.
3. The Grinch (Dr. Seuss)
The Grinch, a bitter and grouchy creature, plans to steal Christmas from the Whos in Whoville by taking all their presents and decorations. However, after witnessing their joy and holiday spirit despite the theft, he has a change of heart, bringing himself a new perspective on Christmas. The Grinch is a lighthearted Christmas movie with many loveable characters who make up the quirky place of Whoville. The incredible artwork in this movie makes it extremely beautiful and fun to watch. With its amazing soundtrack, the Grinch ultimately creates one of the best Christmas movies.

Falling for Christmas follows a spoiled heiress named Sierra who suffers from amnesia after a skiing accident, and is taken in by a charming lodge owner, Jake, while she recovers. As she rediscovers the simple joys of life and love, Sierra learns what truly matters and redefines her idea of happiness, finding love with Jake in the process. It’s a good Christmas movie because it combines heartwarming themes of self-discovery and the holiday spirit, with a cozy setting and a romantic storyline, making it perfect for viewers looking for a feel-good, festive escape.
5. The Princess Switch
The Princess Switch follows a Chicago baker, Stacy, who swaps places with Lady Margaret, the Duchess of Montenaro, just before Christmas. As they experience each other’s lives, Stacy falls for Margaret’s fiancé, and Margaret discovers a new sense of freedom, leading to romantic and personal transformations for both women. Although this movie is not fully focused on Christmas, it is very entertaining. Being able to see the lives of both women unfold as they pretend to be one another during the wintertime is very interesting and makes for a captivating plot for audiences. This movie increases the Christmas spirit and is overall a really good movie for any season.
