As spring break quickly approaches, many Marymount students are counting down the days until spring break. Whether it may be a super fun vacation or just some much-needed relaxation time at home, everyone’s plans are shaping up to make for a great two weeks off of school! While some people’s plans are more obscure, many destinations seem to be hot spots this year. Keep an eye out for your friends at the airport, on the mountain, or at the beach because here’s where everyone’s off to!
Florida
Many sailors head off to Florida this spring break to soak up the sunshine! After spending some time in the Bahamas, sophomores Maeve O’Donnell, Georgie Hancock, and Addie Landes will be spending their break in Palm Beach. Georgie seems to speak for all of the girls when she shares that she’s “personally ecstatic” (Hancock). While some girls will be in Palm Beach, Lily Street ‘27 will be just south of them in the Florida Keys! Lily shared, “I’m really excited to spend time with my family and my grandma… I’ve never been there, so it’s going to be a new experience for me” (Street).

Spokane, Vegas, and Reno Tournaments
No surprise that many Marymount sailors will be traveling to participate in club volleyball tournaments this break. Sammie Nugent ‘27 says that she’s “upset that [she] gets no spring break” but that she’s still “excited to be with [her] team” (Nugent). Sophomore Kate Oerlemans will be traveling alongside Sammie to the same two tournaments, good luck ladies! Morgan McCormack ‘27 who plays with Nugent and Oerlemans on Sunshine 16 Pacific sadly her hurt knee, leaving her unable to participate in this tournament: “I’m sad to not be with my teammates, but maybe I’ll just like, venture around,” says McCormack who feels excited to explore her newfound free time this break. Elle Vandeweghe ‘26 will also be at a fun volleyball tournament upon returning from Cabo. She says that she’s “very excited!”
College Tours
School may be on pause for two weeks, but that can’t stop many sailors’ commitment to learning! After her volleyball tournament, Sophomore Kate Oerlemans will be heading to UVA, and she also “want[s] to go to the east coast and visit [her] sister at Harvard” (Oerlemans). Another sophomore getting a head start on her college touring is Maica Monti who will be attending the Marymount college trip to New York and Boston: “We’re visiting Boston College, NYU, Columbia, Harvard… I’m really looking forward to it,” shares Monti. Junior Taryn Wood will also be visiting schools over the break: “Wisconsin, TCU, SMU, UT, and Tulane… [I’m] so excited,” said Taryn.

International + Miscellaneous
Taking advantage of the time off, some girls are headed overseas to enjoy their spring! Rebecca Morton ‘27 shares her excitement about a girls trip she will be going on with her mom: “[We’re going] to London then Paris, I’m super excited to go shopping and have some fun,” says Morton. Rebecca may run into her classmate Payton Boehm ‘28 who will also be in London this spring with her family. Staying a little bit closer to home is freshman Isabel Brunneman who’s travelling with her dad over the break to Montana- So exciting!

Staying Closer to Home
It isn’t necessary to go far to enjoy your spring break, some Marymount students are staying right here in LA! This spring break, Nina Sorour ‘27 shares her excitement about staying in Los Angeles, sharing that she “never takes advantage of living in LA,” just like so many of us! We live in such a vibrant and wonderful city, anyone staying local this break should look into all of the fun experiences we have access to locally! Nina feels “excited to spend time with [her] family exploring the city” and encourages anyone else staying in LA to do the same!
