Marymount is home to many incredible teachers, but few bring the combination of enthusiasm, compassion and lifelong curiosity that Mrs. Snow brings to her classroom each day. From her love of history, to her belief in seeing students as people first, Ms. Snow’s teaching journey is filled with inspiration, purpose, and joy.

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a teacher,” Mrs. Snow shared. “In my fourth-grade yearbook, I even said I wanted to be a college professor!” That dream was shaped by three important women in her life: 1) her mom, 2) a school psychologist who inspired her love of learning and the school environment, and 3) her AP U.S. History teacher, Mrs. Welty, whose humor, empathy, and kindness made a lasting impact. “Mrs. Welty showed me compassion during a very hard time in my life,” Mrs. Snow reflected. “She inspired me to be a teacher who sees my students as people first and scholars second.”
That student-centered philosophy shines every day in Mrs. Snow’s classroom, where history becomes alive through discussion, creativity, and connection. “My favorite part about teaching is the students!” she said. “I love watching pieces of history click together and seeing students make connections in class.” Her enthusiasm for learning is contagious, especially when she reaches her favorite topic, the Roaring Twenties, through an interactive lesson that brings the decade to life.

Mrs. Snow’s love of history began early, sparked by watching History Channel documentaries with her dad and reading biographies for every birthday. “Even today, I love learning,” she said. “I listen to history podcasts during my commute and regularly find myself in Wikipedia rabbit holes.”
Originally from outside Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Snow attended public school through eighth grade before enrolling at Xavier College Prep, an all-girls Catholic high school that deeply influenced her. “It shaped who I am and inspired me to later teach at all-girls schools,” she explained. After earning her degree from University of Arizona, Mrs. Snow moved to Chicago to pursue another passion, improv comedy, which she still enjoys today. During her ten years in Chicago, she earned her graduate degree, got married and in spring of 2024 accepted a position at Marymount, prompting a cross-country move to Los Angeles with her husband, Mr. Snow, and their dog, Maisie, pictured below.

This year, there is even more exciting news – Mrs. Snow recently shared that she and her husband are expecting their first baby in the spring!
Between her humor, empathy and deep love for teaching, Mrs. Snow has quickly become an important part of the Marymount community. Her story reminds us that great teachers do more than teach lessons – they inspire, encourage, and remind us that learning is something to love for life.
